Aluminum Casting Quality Services
Through our Quality Management System, BOOSE incorporates quality control into every phase of the production process to ensure that your aluminum sand castings meet your exact specifications. Our commitment to quality control is your assurance of quality products.
All examinations are performed by American Society for Nondestructive Testing – Non-Destructive Testing Levels 1, 2, and 3.
We work to a variety of Military, Aerospace and commercial specifications.
- Liquid Penetrant Testing
Fluorescent Dye Penetrant, Water Washable Type I, Method A, Sensitivity Level I. This is a testing method suitable for evaluating the surface and sub-surface integrity of non-magnetic and ferro-magnetic parts.
- Faro 3D Scanner
Used to capture surface geometry with great detail, features, and characteristics. 3D laser scanning is projected into the surface of an object and a camera captures the reflection. Each point is triangulated, measured, and recorded, resulting in a 3D rendering of the shape and surface measurements of the object.
- Standard Casting Layout/First Article Inspection
Dimensional measurement is used to compare the first cast parts from the manufacturing line to engineering drawings with tolerances, and/or other specifications.Our standard casting layout process is performed by using micrometers, height gauges, squares, calipers, and other approved functional gauges. Customers can be provided a full dimensional layout report.
BOOSE utilizes certified in-house digital & film radiography to identify discontinuities in aluminum castings. This provides assurance of the structural and mechanical properties of the casting.
Chemical & Physical Testing
Metal Quality Inspection
All metal is tested prior to pouring to confirm any impurities and trapped gas has been removed.
All metal heats are sampled verifying metal chemistry through spectrometry.
Tensile testing is a fundamental materials science and engineering test in which a sample is subjected to a controlled tension until failure in order to determine if the metal meets the desired specifications required.
All molding sand systems are tested for their properties on a rigorous schedule. This is key to evaluating the mechanical and functional sand properties ensuring consistent quality.
Shop cards are generated using Odyssey Software. Each department receives their own shop card with a separate set of instructions for everything from core making, molding, heat treat, visual inspection and even shipping, ensuring consistency and quality control every step of the way through production.
